Your complete Cryptogram answers guide

Cryptogram by Gismart shows you a famous quote where every letter has been swapped for a symbol, and your job is to crack the substitution cipher and read it back. This page is the complete Cryptogram answers archive: all 6,167 levels are decoded here, each with the full quote and the real author, checked against the game so every solution is confirmed - not guessed.

Every level answer page solves the whole puzzle for you: the fully decoded quote, the author who said it, the difficulty tier, and a note on any tricky words. Jump straight to a page like Cryptogram Level 100, Level 500, or Level 1000, or type any word or author name into the search box above to find the exact quote.

The puzzles get longer and tougher as you climb. The early Beginner levels (1-164) use short, common quotes that are perfect for learning the cipher; by the Expert tier (1,535-2,045) you are decoding obscure authors and multi-clause lines with almost no repeated letters. Pick your difficulty tier below, or read the full level list in order.

Cryptogram is available in five languages and every one is covered here: English, French, German, Spanish, and Russian. Each language has its own decoded archive, because the quotes are different in each - use the language links or the flags at the top of the page to switch.

Stuck on a single symbol? Our solving tips cover the fastest tricks: a lone one-letter word is always A or I, the symbol that appears most often is almost always E, and an apostrophe nearly always points to a contraction. Work outward from four or five confirmed letters and the rest of the quote falls into place.

Every quote here is manually decoded and verified by Oliver Brennan, our senior editor, against the original source. Cryptogram Answers is an independent fan resource and is not affiliated with Gismart. Pages are updated as new levels are added to the game.

Tips for Solving Cryptogram Puzzles

Single-letter words:In English, the only single-letter words are A and I. If you see a lone symbol, it must be one of those two.
Apostrophes narrow options:A pattern like symbol-apostrophe-symbol almost always ends in T or S. Common contractions: DON'T, CAN'T, IT'S, THAT'S.
Double letters:Look for repeated adjacent symbols. Common English doubles: LL, SS, EE, OO, TT, FF, PP. This can unlock entire words quickly.
Letter frequency:The most common letters in English are E, T, A, O, I, N, S, H, R. The symbol that appears most often is almost certainly E.
Common short words:Two-letter words are limited: OF, TO, IN, IS, IT, ON, AT, BY, OR, AN. Three-letter: THE, AND, FOR, ARE, BUT, NOT.
Word endings:Look for -ING, -TION, -MENT, -NESS, -ABLE, -ED, -LY, -ER. These suffixes appear in a huge proportion of English text.
The quote structure helps:Cryptogram quotes are real sentences with punctuation. Commas, periods, and question marks are not encoded and give you word boundary clues.
Work outward from confirmed letters:Once you have 4-5 confirmed letters, fill them into every word in the puzzle. Partially revealed words become solvable by context.
